Get the Most out of Your Lamps with LED Bulbs

Here at SunLake we talk a lot about light bulbs and LED technology, dimmers and color temperatures, but one thing i noticed doesn’t get a lot of our attention when thinking about lighting is the humble and ubiquitous lamp. It’s hard to overstate the importance of lamps. They’re versatile, useful, and can say a lot about your personal style and can help define the look and feel of your space. They can be purchased for next to nothing at big box stores or can retail for thousands of dollars from well known designers.
Lamps come in a dizzying array of different styles. It used to be the kind of lamp you purchased was largely dependent on the space you had. Small lamps for small spaces, big lamps for large ones. While that is certainly a decent and prudent rule to live by, it’s also a rule that’s made to be broken - and often to stunning effect.
The last few years have seen the explosion in the trend of maximalism when it comes to lighting. There’s a place for maximalism in home, retail, dining, and even commercial office spaces.
Of course just as there is a trend toward maximalism on one end of the spectrum, there is the equal and opposite turn toward minimalism on the other. Smaller lamps and fixtures with simple lines, slender designs, and just as much character as these oversized lamps.
Whether you prefer enormous fixtures, tiny ones, or something in between, the one thing they all have in common is the bulbs they use. To get the most out of your lamps you’ll want to use LED bulbs. There are several reasons for this. Of course the most compelling reason is energy savings. LEDs cost much less to run than incandescents or even CFLs. LEDs have other benefits as well. For one thing, they last much longer than traditional bulbs, so while the upfront cost may be more per bulb than an incandescent, for example, you won’t have to change them nearly as often. That fact coupled with the lower cost of running the bulbs adds up to substantial savings over time. LEDs also come in a wide range of color temperatures. From lower temperatures that have a homey yellow glow to higher temperatures that have bluer, more stark tones, LEDs offer you precisely the color light to best suit your space.
Another added benefit of using SunLake’s LEDs is that they are all shatterproof. Fluorescent tubes are fragile things. A standard incandescent bulb with its thin, fragile glass can easily shatter if accidentally dropped. SunLake’s LED bulbs won’t cause a safety hazard if dropped. Our high quality construction means even our vintage-style filament bulbs are indistinguishable from their traditional counterparts and also ensures that while the exterior casing may crack, it won’t shatter.
Lamps typically use one of two kinds of light bulbs defined by the size of their base. The E26 medium is the “standard” base used for nearly all household light fixtures. The smaller E12 base is also known as a “candelabra” base and is used in many chandeliers, ceiling fan fixtures, and some smaller decorative or ornamental lamps. Whatever bulb your lamp requires, SunLake Lighting has the bulbs you need. Below is just a small sample of the bulbs SunLake offers. Click here for our full catalog.
